What is The Natak Way

The Natak Way was born out of the Founder, Maxwel Chhetry’s love for acting and his belief in the effectiveness of theatre as a change agent. With over fourteen years of experience in Training & Development and almost a decade on the stage, he brings to the table a unique understanding of theatre as a training tool. At The Natak Way we provide dynamic training solutions using theatre formats like Forum, Street and Invisible Theatre.

How it works and FAQs:

Why theatre over any other methodology?

Theatre works at the affective (feelings, emotions) level as well as the cognitive (knowledge) level. Participants are more likely to recall an ‘experience’ they were a part of rather than something they ‘heard’.

Who will benefit from theatre based programs?

Absolutely anyone in the organization. Theatre is a metaphor for communication, so anyone who communicates will benefit from a theatre-based program. Audiences may include entry level participants, right up till VP/Director levels. The Natak Way uses not just established formats like Forum and Street, but also techniques from the stage to enhance skill acquisition.

This is new. Should I really experiment?

Theatre is a different methodology to train the same participants on the same skills. Everything from the Training Needs Analysis to the Learning Outcome, remains the same. Only the way in which the participants relate to and practice the skills changes, and in fact improves. Look at it as the difference between learning to cook from a Facebook video versus actually having someone next to you, walking you through the recipe in your kitchen.

Is prior theatre experience required in order to participate?

None whatsoever. The newer the experience, the more novel it is. This does not mean that theatre practitioners cannot attend. Theatre based programs are equally interesting for everyone.

What is the duration of these programs?

Depending on the requirements of the learner group and that of the client, we devise either one or two-day programs. For sustained learning and practice, we often recommend theatre based programs as part of longer curriculums.
